The Department of Social Work of Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) Patna University inaugurated its much-anticipated Social Work Club, ‘SAMARTH’, with an orientation program aimed at inspiring students to contribute actively to society on October 4, 2024. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head, Department of Social Work and Club Coordinator, who welcomed the guest of the day, Shri Sunil Kumar Jha, Consultant, UNICEF. Shri Jha, in his address, emphasized the pivotal role of social workers as change-makers, stressing the importance of empathy, dedication, and perseverance in driving social transformation. Dr. Mridul Mishra also led the students in taking a solemn oath, encouraging them to uphold the values of service, integrity, and commitment throughout their social work journey. A highlight of the event was the formal unveiling of the SAMARTH – Social Work Club’s logo by the dignitaries, symbolizing the club’s mission to empower communities and foster inclusive growth. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Alok John, Dean – National, International Collaborations and Consultancy Services, Patna Women’s College, who expressed gratitude to the esteemed guest, faculty, and students for their enthusiastic participation. Faculty members of the Social Work Department, Sister Sanjana A.C. and Sister Bhagyam A.C., were also present, lending their support to the initiative. The program was moderated by Ms. Preety Singh, President, Social Work Club ‘Samarth’ and a student of the Department of Social Work. ‘SAMARTH’ promises to be a dynamic platform for students to engage with real-world challenges and contribute to social welfare through various projects and activities aimed at building a just and equitable society.
