A display on Art in Petriplate was organized by the Department of Microbiology on 31st March, 2023, for the students of B.Sc semester VI. In the event, the students displayed their artistic skill while handling various cultures and media, bringing on the table, the beauty of the Microbial World in the form of Agar Art.The students, carved out beautiful figures of Bacteriophage,butterfly,Doremon, lord Ganesha, Taj Mahal, Leishmania, Mucor, Cultural Triumph, Astronaut, foetus Mandala Art and many more against colorful growth media using strains of various bacteria and fungi such as Streptococcus , E.coli , Lactobacillus , Malassezia furfur , Aspergillus etc on sterilized loop while also keeping in mind proper sanitization and laboratory rules.The event successfully organized under the enthusiastic supervision of Dr. Jaya Philip, Head of Department of Microbiology and the assistant professors, Dr. Preeti Swarupa, Dr. Niti Yashvardhini and Dr. Swetnisha, proved to be a highly useful one as it helped to enhance the student’s laboratory skills while handling various microorganisms, cultures, media and tools, and at the same time, providing them a golden platform to showcase and polish their artistic skills, thus giving a boost to both their academic and extracurricular abilities. The students also learnt the characteristics of various bacteria and fungus in a creative way. The highly creative day full of vibrant colors and textures on petriplates, polishing the students’ skills, finally ended with photography sessions, thus capturing a well spent day.
