Guest lecture-ICFAI Business School
The Department of Advertising and Marketing Management in collaboration with ICFAI Business School organized a guest lecture on August 27, 2024, by Prof. Arpita Chowdhury (IBS Kolkata) in the MVEIC Hall on the topic “College to Corporate”. During the session, Prof. Chowdhury introduced the Star Theory used in interviews, emphasizing the importance of sharpening learning skills and staying up to date with new technologies in one’s field.
She highlighted the significance of effective communication, detailing the different types, including intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. Prof. Chowdhury stressed that verbal communication accounts for only 7% of effective communication, with non-verbal cues playing 93% role.
She also recommended few books which would help in enhancing skillsets of students, encouraged students to adopt the mantra “I can and I will” and also discussed the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, perseverance, and team spirit.
The session was interactive, featuring a quiz on listening skills and lateral thinking. It was well-attended by students from Advertising and Marketing Management, as well as B.Com Hons.
