Guest Lecture on World Mental Health Day
To celebrate the World Mental Health Day (10th October), the Department of Zoology, Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Patna Harmony, organized a Guest Lecture on 01.10.2024.
The Resource person was renowned Clinical Psychologist and Alumna of Patna Women’s College, Dr. Binda Singh. The topic of her deliberation was Mental health.
The objective of the programme was to spread awareness about healthy mental state.
The programme started with lighting of the lamp.
Dr. Shobha Shrivastava, Dean, Faculty of Science and Head, Department of Zoology welcomed and introduced the distinguished guests.
Dr. Binda motivated students not to hide their problems and share it with their family members, friends and teachers. She told the students to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health conditions and encouraged them to seek support, no matter their circumstances. She also emphasized on discipline, balanced diet, time management and proper sleep for mental well-being.
Professor Asha Singh, an alumna of PWC, former Principal Magadh Mahila College and Director Lions Club of Patna Harmony also shared her experience and emphasized on the importance of mental health along with the physical health in our daily life.
The lecture was attended by about 200 Post graduate students of Semester I and III of the Departments of Zoology, Physics and Biotechnology and Under graduate Sem-V students of Department of Zoology of Patna Women’s College.
Dr. Bidhu Rani, former Principal of Government Mahila College and many other members of the Lion Club of Patna Harmony, and teachers of different departments of Patna Women’s College attended the session.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shobha Shrivastava, Dean, Faculty of Science and Head, Department of Zoology, PWC. Compering was done by Ms Amisha Kumari, Sem-V, Department of Zoology and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Neetu, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology.
The session was very informative and interactive.
All the students were inquisitive and were benefited by this relevant lecture.
