The Department of Botany, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) organized an educational excursion to the Sudha Dairy Plant in Phulwarisharif, Patna on October 22, 2024. The visit was aimed at providing Botany Semester I students with a firsthand understanding of the dairy production process.
A group of 49 students, accompanied by two faculty members – Dr. Pinky Prasad, Head of the Department, and Dr. Hena Naz, Assistant Professor – and two non-teaching staff, Mr. Shyam Babu and Mr. Aditya Kumar Roy, visited the Dairy plant.
Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the plant officials who provided a comprehensive overview of the facility’s operations. The students were then guided through various sections of the plant, including the milk reception area, pasteurization unit, homogenization chamber, packaging section, and quality control laboratory.
At each stage, the students witnessed the intricate processes involved in transforming raw milk into various dairy products. They observed the strict quality control measures implemented to ensure the safety and purity of the final products. The visit also highlighted the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the dairy industry.
The highlight of the visit was the opportunity for students to interact with the dairy plant’s experts. They were able to ask questions, seek clarifications, and gain insights into the challenges and advancements in the dairy industry. This interaction proved to be immensely beneficial for the students, as it provided them with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. This experiential learning opportunity further enhanced their appreciation for the dairy industry and its contribution to the local economy.
