On 7th October, 2024, Department of English, Patna Women’s College, in collaboration with ‘Lit Wit’, Literary Society, organised a Poster Exhibition on Modern Art. The students of MA Sem 3 prepared the posters and displayed them on the department bulletin board.
Dr Sahar Rahman, Head, Department of English and Dr Prabhat Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of English, were the judges for the event.
Mauli Pulak, a student of MA Sem 3, Department of English, introduced the topic of the event and outlined the importance of Modern Art movements in developing Modern British Literature. After the avant-garde movement, many modern art movements started, and they peaked in the exhibitions at the Salon d’Automme in Paris. These exhibitions in Paris presented paintings related to Impressionism, Post-impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism and Expressionism to the people. Later on, Dadaism, Surrealism and Futurism also left its impact on art. All these art movements were displayed through posters by different groups. Virginia Woolf declared that the exhibition in London in 1910 significantly influenced all modern writers.
Dr. Sahar Rahman praised the students for their efforts and discussed the importance of Footprint Exhibitions for students to learn through participative learning methods.
Dr. Prabhat Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of English, was the coordinator of the event. Dr. Deepika Tiwari, Coordinator of the Literary Society, provided her valuable support.
Swati, a student of MA Sem 3, prepared the event flyer, and Saanvi, a student of MA Sem 3, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
