PRESS RELEASE LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS ELIMINATION PROGRAMME
A Mass Drug Administration Programme for Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme was organised by Health Department, Government of India in collaboration with National Service Scheme, Patna Women’s College unit. This awareness programme begun at 11 A.M in the Carmel Hall of the Patna Women’s College. The programme started with introduction to Lymphatic Filariasis by Dr.Rajesh Pandey WHO India Coordinator, Bihar, who also explained it’s causes,symptoms, prevention and elimination strategy in the Filariasis prone States of India, followed by an interactive session which included questions by the NSS volunteers . After that reels competition and posters with slogans competition was held.winners were appointed by the judges.In reel making competition Shambhavi Shree and Shrishti Tripathi stood 1st , Ayushi Singh and Saloni Kumari got the 2nd position and Divya Anand and Ayat Ishtiaque stood 3rd.For poster competition Akshita kumari and Ranjana singh stood 1st. The reels were made on symptoms and prevention of Lymphatic Filariasis and slogans were on elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis. The event also included a talk about Dengue and Chikungunya. The programme was concluded by Dr. Pankhuri, who she spoke about the way of consuming preventive medicines of Lymphatic Filariasis .The NSS Programme Officers Dr.Shahla Rehana and Dr.Amrita (NSS Programme Officers, PWC) were also present for the talk show.
