The inauguration ceremony of the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell and the Mental Well-being Club
Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) Patna University, hosted the inauguration ceremony of the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell and the Mental Well-being Club on October 5, 2024. The event marked a significant step towards promoting mental health and preventing substance abuse among students. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Mrs. Shabnam Fatima, International Fellow with the Ford Foundation and Consultant at UNICEF. The program began with a warm welcome extended by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Nodal Officer, Substance Abuse Prevention Cell and Head, Department of Social Work. Dr. Mishra introduced the Cell and its objectives, emphasizing its mission under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), Govt. Of India to curb substance abuse among the youth.
Following this, Dr. Nupur Sinha, Coordinator, Mental Well-being Club and Head, Department of Psychology, outlined the aims and objectives of the Mental Well-being Club, underscoring its role in supporting the psychological health of students. Mrs. Shabnam Fatima, the Chief Guest, led an interactive session on the issue of substance use, misuse, and preventive measures. She shared valuable insights into the challenges of substance abuse, emphasizing the importance of awareness, early intervention, and community support. A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the logos for the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell and Well Nest – the Mental Well-being Club, by Mrs. Fatima. A pledge was also taken by the members of the Mental Well-being Club, reinforcing their commitment to mental well-being and substance abuse prevention. The Vote of thanks was proposed by by Sister S. Sanjana A.C., Member Secretary of the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell and Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest and all attendees. She acknowledged the support and presence of faculty and members of both the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell and the Department of Psychology. The session was moderated by Preety Singh, a student from the Department of Social Work.
