On October 1, 2024, the Department of Social Work at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) Patna University and the “SAMARTH” Social Work Club, in collaboration with Help Age India Foundation under the Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement (P.A.C.E.) program, celebrated the International Day for Older persons on October 1, 2024. The workshop, themed “Towards a Society for All Ages: Unlocking Opportunities,” focused on promoting respect and inclusion for the elderly. Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head, Department of Social Work, Patna Women’s College emphasized the necessity of creating a society where older individuals are valued and integrated into the community. She highlighted the crucial role institutions and colleges play in advancing this endeavor. The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Shri Nand Kishore Yadav, addressed the collective responsibility of society to support and uplift older citizens. Notable guests included Mrs. Harjot Kaur Bamrah, IAS, Managing Director of the Women Development Corporation in Bihar, and former Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad. Faculty members of the Department of Social Work, Sr. Sanjana A.C. and Sr. Bhagyam A.C. were also present. The session was highly informative, with students learning about various initiatives by Help Age India aimed at enhancing the lives of older persons in our communities.
