Brief Report –
On 19th December 2022, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) organized a Carol Singing Competition to celebrate Christmas in the open-air stage hall. The competition encompassed both Hindi and English carols. Father Oswald Saldanha, S.J., Administrator of Gyanoday, RTC, Khaspur; Father Josey Mathais S.J., Director of Prabhat Prakashan; Ms. Saroj Kullu, a teacher from St. Xavier’s School, Patna; and Sister Mridula A.C., Principal of Mount Carmel School, Patria, were the esteemed chief guest and jury members of the competition. Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal of Patna Women’s College, expressed gratitude to the chief guest and jury members by presenting them with tokens of appreciation. The Hindi Carol Competition commenced with students singing captivating carols such as “Bethlehem ki Hawa Suno,” “Nache Dharti Gaaye Aasman,” and “Dekho Tara.” The colorful costumes worn by the participants added to the visual appeal of the program. A total of 11 teams participated in the Hindi category. Following the Hindi carols, the English Carol segment took place with 11 participating teams. The English Carol section began with students singing melodic carols like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Silent Night.” One of the jury members, Father Josey Mathais S.J., provided the students with insights into the technical aspects of singing and delivered a Christmas message to them. The results of the competition were announced towards the end. Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal of Patna Women’s College, addressed the audience, expressing her appreciation and congratulations to the participants and winners. The entire program was hosted by the Student Council of 2022-23 at Patna Women’s College. The Cultural Coordinators, Dr. Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Head of the History Department, Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts, and Ms. Samiksha Sinha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, supervised the event. The guidance and direction for the program were provided by Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., the Principal of Patna Women’s College.
