  • The department of Statistics was established in 2013. Its offers a 4-year Undergraduate Programme in B.Sc. Statistics (hons.) based on NEP 2020.
  • The department also offers two credit-based Add-on certificate courses in Biostatistics and Data Analysis using SPSS.

On 10th of February 2023 2nd day of Statastic (That’s Fantastic ) National level Project presentation competition was conducted jointly organized by St. Ann’s College for Women, Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad. Event was conducted in two parallel sessions for PG students and Research Scholars through Google meet in online mode. Panel of two judges judged the event. For session 1 Dr. Amarendra Mishra, redt. Professor, Department of Statistics, Patna University and Ms. Aparna St. Ann’s College for women, Hyderabad were the judges. And for session 2 Dr. Lalitha Devi and Dr. Bhawna Sinha , Head Department of Computer Applications judged the presentations presented by students under PG and Research scholar category. Altogether there were 42 presentations during this 2-Day National level Project Presentation Competition under UG , PG and Research Scholar category from all over the India. All the presentations were highly appreciated by the judges.

On 9th of February, 2023, National Level Project Report Presentation Competition was jointly organised by Department of Statistics, Saint Ann’s College for Women and Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) Undergraduate Level, held in two parallel Session through Online Mode.

The Programme commenced with a Welcome Song. Ms. Moon, Head Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College addressed and welcomed the Guest and the members present. Thereafter, the programme continued with the Guest Lecture on the Topic: Sampling Technique, Resource Person was Dr. Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University. The presentation were conducted in two session in which the students from different departments presented their research works from all over India like Rion DSilva and Sarthak Sawant, B.Sc., St Xavier’s College from Mumbai presented on the topic: Statistical Analysis of the Big 6 Priemer League, Visista & Sai Nikhitha, B.Sc.,St Francis College for Women, Hyderabad, TS presented on the topic: A Study on fashion influence on the buying behavior of the customer, Manasvita and Nandita Kumari, B.Sc., Patna Women’s College, Patna presented on the topic: A Study On Awareness About The Impact Of National Education Policy (Nep) – 2020, Amradhi Srujana Reddy and
Archita Chatiri, B.Sc.,St. Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad, TS presented on the topic: Diabetes prediction using Machine Learning and many more students actively participated. The students were judged by a bench of three expert judges in both sessions from the Science Background. Dr. Vikas Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics welcomed Ms. Lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Badruka College of Arts and Commerce, Hyderabad, Dr. D. Srilaka,Head, Department of Statistics, St. Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad and Dr.Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Application, Patna Women’s College were judges for the first Session. Ms. Moon, Head , Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College welcomed Dr. Amarendra Mishra, Retired Professor, Department of Statistics, Patna University, Patna, Dr. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College and Ms. V. Sai Sri Kishor, Assistant Professor, Department of Staistics, St. Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad were judges for the Second Session. Altogether 23 presenters presented their project reports and also used modern Statistical techniques in their reports. All the presentations were highly appreciated by the experts. The Project Report Presentation Competition came to conclusion with an astounding views given by the judges. Students of all the Semesters of UG, Department of Statistics attended the presentation along with all the teachers of Department of Statistics.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College to the Guest Lecture Towards the end, Simran Fatma and Shubhlata propounded the vote of thanks in their respective Sessions. The programme ended with National Anthem.

On 20th of October 2022, Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College organised an Alumni meet where the members once again came back to celebrate and reminisce the moments spent together in their prestigious institution.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Song which was presented by the students. Ms. Moon, Head, Department of Statistics addressed and welcomed the members present.
Thereafter, the programme continued with an entertaining expressionless Classical Dance which was performed by Manvi. Then, a poem was presented by semester 3 student following by Stand-up Comedy performed by semester 5 student.
The event was continued by a song which was beautifully sung by semester 5 student dedicating to the beloved alumni. Various fun games like Antakshari were also conducted for all the alumni. The whole programme was conducted in both online and offline mode. Towards the end, the alumni were called upon to share their experiences. A feedback session was also conducted where the alumni gave their feedback and stated that they will always participate in the upcoming activities of the department.
The programme came to conclusion with an astounding and energetic dance performance by the students of semester 3. The whole programme was moderated by Harshita, Department of Statistics and the vote of thanks was given by Shreya Shree.

On 26th August, 2022, Department of Statistics organised a One Day National Webinar on “Recent Advance Applications of Sampling Techniques”. The Resource Persons for the webinar were Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, Retired Professor, Department of Statistics, Banaras Hindu University and Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ahmed, Vice Principal Cum Coordinator IQAC, Umshyrpi College, Shillong. Dr. Sister M Rashmi AC, Principal, Patna Women’s College and Dr. Sister M Tanisha AC, Vice Principal, Patna Women’s College encouraged the students and gave the opportunity to conduct such informative events. The Program commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. Aparajita Krishna, Head, Department of Physics and Dean, Faculty of Science, Patna Women’s College and welcomed the speaker with a welcome speech. The Convenor of this webinar was Ms Moon, Head, Department of Statistics and the co-convener was Dr. Amit Kumar Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics and organising secretary was Dr. Vikash Kumar Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics. The conclusion was made about Statistical based generalization to the population. It was very beneficial session for all the people working in Research Field. The whole program was moderated by Manvi Kumari and Ritu Chourasia, Patna Women’s College. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms Moon, Head, Department of Statistics and Convenor of the webinar. All the students were provided the feedback form and the average rating was 4.5/5.

Independence Day

On August 15, 2021, the Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College, organised a virtual event on Zoom to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence. The theme of the event was ‘A Step Towards True Freedom’.

The event had performances like solo dance performance, short film presentation, poem recitation, and speech based on the theme.

All these performances celebrated and questioned the true sense of freedom in India. Also, they discussed how a citizen can take initiatives to make India a more safe and free Country for everyone.

At the end, the teachers of the department shared their views about Independence with the students. The programme ended with the mark of all teachers on the event.
