Highlights of the Department

  • Research projects are being carried out successfully due to the sufficient availability of psychological tests.
  • Educational tour for B.A. III students to mental hospitals is conducted.
  • A full-time counselor is available in the guidance and counseling center.
  • Psychiatrists/Counselors are invited to the Dept. for lectures and interactions.
  • Students from all Departments of Patna Women’s College come for guidance and counseling. They are counseled to face their day-day problems.
  • Regular talks are conducted related to psychological issues by internal and external resource persons.
  • Through the Mentor System, the Department offers help and guidance for personal and educational problems of students.
  • Seminars and Workshops are held at regular intervals.
  • Parent-Teacher Meet are held regularly to help in personality development.


On the occasion of “ Jal Jeevan Hariyali Divas”, Department of psychology organized a virtual programme for all the students of Psychology, on 8th June 2021. The Programme started with prayer followed by two invited lectures on the topics related to Environment Conservation. One of the speaker was Dr. Debjani Sarkar Ghosh,Head and Associate Professor, Department of Geography, and second speaker was Dr. Pinky Prashad, Head, Department of Botany, Patna Women’s College.

Both the presentations were well summarised by Dr. Nupur Sinha, Head, Department of Psychology, Patna Women’s College and all the teachers of the department. Many Students attended the programme and cleared their queries after the lectures and were rejuvenated by learning and associating psychology with environmental factors. A Collage Competition was also organized for the students and Dr. Nupur Sinha announced the winners name at the end of the programme.

On 10th February 2021, Fresher’s Day was organized for both UD and PG Semester I in the Department of psychology, Patna Women’s College. All the students of UG semester I decorated and arranged the room for the celebration with full of motivation and enthusiasm. They also moderated the program and performed in groups as well as individually.

The program started with the arrival of Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A. C. and the distinguished guests, Dr. Sister Celine Crasta, Head, Department of History and Dr. Shahla Rehana, Head, Department of English, Patna Women’s College. Programme started with prayer dance and ended with a group song by the students of PG Semester I. At the end of the programme, certificates of Republic Day poster competition were distributed by the guests

Students of 2nd year (Semester III), participated in a virtual carol singing competition organized by the college, on 29th November 2020. Students submitted their video recordings of song. Students, Riya Sah, Tanu Trivedi, Shreya Shukla and Sister Dondor Mary participated in a group.

On the occasion of republic day celebrated on 26th January, a poster competition was organized for the students of UG 1st year (Semester I). All the students were divided into 8 groups, and they performed very well, among which 3 groups got prize. The judges for the competition were Dr. Amrita Chaudhary Coordinator, IQAC and Sister Anna, assistant Professor, Department of geography, Patna Women’s College, Patna.

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day students of 3rd year (Semester V) organized virtual programme on 5th September. They invited all the teaching and non-teaching staff of department of psychology, Patna Women’s College. Program was full of creativity and beautiful expression by the students.On the occasion of World

Mental Health Day, on 10th October, department of Psychology, Patna Women’s College, organized a national level audio-video presentation competition. Theme for the presentation was “Mental Health: Educate one and all” Participants have submitted their presentations and were provided with the certificates.

12th August 2020- A slogan writing competition was organized for the students of UG 2nd year (Semester IV), on the occasion of Independence Day on 15th august. Based on a photograph given to them, they had to write slogans, students participated and prizes were given to the winners.

13th August 2020- A Poem writing competition was organized for UG 3rd (Semester V) year students, on the occasion of Independence Day on 15th august. Students participated and wrote poem in both Hindi and English followed by providing certificate to the winners.

14th August 2020- A Patriotic song competition was organized for the students of PG Applied Psychology Semester III, on the evening of Independence Day, 15th August. All the students were participated in online programme and prizes were distributed to the winners.

A two day National Webinar, for students have been organized from the department of

1- M. A. Applied Psychology Students have been engaged with Assignment on COVID-19, different topics have been given to students in online mode. All the students participated and submitted their assignments, gathering information from authentic sources.

2- Students of M. A. Applied Psychology also made a collage for spreading awareness regarding safety measures on COVID- 19 Pandemic.

The Webinar was graced by the Hon’ble principal, Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., who gave the opening address.
Dr. Sister M. Reema A.C., Head, Department of Psychology and convenor of the webinar started the session with prayer and bhajan.
The sessions were moderated by Dr. Nupur Sinha, Dr. Shruti Narayan and Ms. Mukta Mrinalini interchangeably for the two days.
In the Webinar More than 300 Participants registered and attended the webinar. The resource persons for the webinar were Mr. Ashok Kumar Patel, Ms. Meha jain, Ms. Mukta Mrinalini, Ms. Isha singh, Dr. Neeraj Vedpuriya and Mr. Joydeep das. All the resource persons were RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registered clinical psychologist.
The Closing ceremony was honoured by notable remarks of Prof. Priyadarshani Narain, Director, Institute of psychological research and services, Patna University. Closing address by Prof. Iftekar Hossain, Head, Department of psychology, Patna University, Patna.

On the occasion of International Women’s day, which is celebrated on 8th March every year, a Poster competition was organized on 6th, 12th and 15th February for PG 1st Year, UG 1st year and UG 2nd year. Students participated in various groups and expressed their creativity with meaningful and motivational massages of women empowerment.

3rd Semester Students of Department of Psychology were taken for educational tour to Bihar Museum on 17.01.2019..

Poster Competition held on September 9th, 2019 on the Occasion of “World Suicide Prevention Day” celebrated on 10th September every Year worldwide. Posters were made by the students of M.A. Applied Psychology. A total of 8 groups participated.
