The Department of English and the Lexicon Language Club of Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) successfully organized an engaging and insightful session titled “The Future of Indian Polyglot” at MVEIC Hall. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and language enthusiasts across disciplines.
The session was conducted by Mrs. Jessica Kumar, founder of the platform ‘Learn Hindi Anywhere’. Known for her unique contribution in promoting Hindi learning among non-native speakers, Mrs. Kumar brought in a refreshing perspective on multilingualism in contemporary India. Drawing from her personal experiences as a polyglot and cultural ambassador, she highlighted the importance of embracing multiple languages not just as communication tools, but as bridges between communities, identities, and opportunities.
In a thought-provoking, interactive session, Mrs. Kumar discussed how India’s multilingual legacy positions it uniquely in the global linguistic landscape. She discussed the role of polyglots in education, diplomacy, technology, and cultural exchange, and also encouraged young learners to approach language learning with curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
The bilingual compère for the event was by Shruti from MA sem-2. She set the tone of the event. Students participated enthusiastically in the Q&A segment, sharing their own language-learning journeys and aspirations. The event ended with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Muskan of MA sem 2.
Dr. Devina Krishna, coordinator of Lexicon Language club on behalf of HOD Dr. Sahar Rahman, Department of English, expressed gratitude to the speaker and lauded the efforts of the Lexicon Language Club in fostering linguistic diversity and dialogue within the academic space.
This event not only celebrated the plurality of languages but also ignited meaningful conversations about the future of language learning in a culturally rich and evolving India in the time of Artificial Intelligence.
