Samiksha of PWC wins Inter-College Poetry Competition
Samiksha Raj of the Department of English of Patna Women’s College on Monday won the multilingual Inter-College Poetry Recitation Competition. Tarunima of the Department of Commerce of St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology clinched the runner-up position. Khushi Kumari of the Department of Communicative English and Media Studies, Patna Women’s College picked up the 2nd runner-up rank.
The contest was organized by the Department of Communicative English and Media Studies of Patna Women’s College to mark the twin occasions of the World Poetry Day and Bihar Diwas which occurred on consecutive days- March 21 & 22, respectively. Appropriately, therefore, the contest was themed ‘Poets from Bihar: Past and Present.’
As many as 40 students from the host college and a few other prominent colleges in the city recited poems in English, Hindi, Bhojpuri and Urdu. Certificates were given to all the contestants.
The contestants were judged by Dr. Sr. M. Saroj A.C., Head, Department of Education, Patna Women’s College, and Dr. Ragini Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology.
The poetry recitation event featured an impressive lineup of works by renowned poets, including Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Anamika, Gopal Singh Nepali, Alok Dhanwa, Bismil Azimabadi, and Nagarjuna.
The final results were announced by Mr. Frank Krishner, Assistant Professor, Department of Communicative English and Media Studies.
