The National Handloom Day

The National Handloom Day was organised by the Department of Home Science on 7th of August 2023 in order to commemorate the handloom weavers of India. Students from Semester III, (U.G., P.G.) and Semester V (U.G.) enthusiastically participated in this program. The program highlighted the prospects, constraints, strategies and interventions and suggestions for the upliftment of the Handloom Industry. Along with the information the participants also showcased a variety of traditional handloom fabrics.The judges of the programme were : Dr. Zareen Fatima (HOD, Department of Economics), Ms. Samiksha Sinha (Department of Sociology) and Ms. Geetanjali Choudhary (Department of Fashion Designing). The judges addressed the students with words of encouragement and their feedback at the end of the programme. The winners of the programme were:

1st position:
Code no. 10 – Anushka, Iqra Imam, Ankita Kumari and Fauzia Al Tarannum (MA Semester Ill) and
Code no. 8 – Maria Talat, Adeeba Afrin and Sameena Hejab (MA Semester I)

2nd position:
Code no. 9 – Amanika Vats and Maharukh Mumtaz (MA Semester I)

3rd position:
Code no. 1: Anuska Anu, Aliya Khanam, Aprajita Sinha and Khushboo Yadav (BA Semester V)
