On 27th September 2024, the Department of Commerce, Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, organized a Workshop- cum- Training Programme for the students on the topic “Integrating Technology in Commerce Education “ to resonate students with the benefits of ‘Hands – on and Experiential Learning’ in collaboration with Nergy India Private Limited, (Nergy Vidya) . The Resource Persons for the event were C. A. Peter Richards, Chief Operating Officer of Nergy India Pvt. Ltd., Kerala , C. A. Binay Bharti, C. A. Vivek Kumar and C. A. Binay Kumar. The Programme commenced with the inaugural address by Dr. Soofia Fatima, H.O.D, Department of Commerce and Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management. She emphasized on the importance of equipping students with both commercial acumen and technical expertise to make them versatile professionals. Practical learning and Technology integrated commerce courses have significant relevance for better career opportunities in the digital era. There was an elaborate presentation by C. A. Peter Richard, Chief Operating Officer, Nergy India Private Limited, who highlighted the importance of integrating I. T. with academic learning, he explained how Nergy Vidya provides simulated software, SL and IL Tech innovator which allows to experience GST return filing, income tax filing, financial statements, financial planning, corporate affairs, commercial law, etc, to help students learn various topics digitally. He facilitated an experiential training to the students on filing GST & Income tax return. Furthermore, C. A. Bharti explained how important it is to enrich and empower students with proper practical training and to make them aware about the various practical aspects of learning. C. A. Vivek Kumar trained the students about the generating PAN card, Decoding the Pan Card and also conducted a short quiz for the students making the session more interactive. C. A. Binay Kumar , shared with some valuable insights about the courses, modules and syllabus in the light of NEP 2020. The students shared their feedback regarding the session. The moderator of the session was Ms. Arshi Khan, student of B. Com Sem V and vote of thanks was given by Ms. Anushka Deo of Sem III. The session concluded with the National Anthem. A total of 181 Students of B. Com Semester V, B. Com- Semester III and semester I B.Com Hons. (Accounting and Finance) along with the teachers of the Department of Commerce attended the session.
