The Department of Social Work on 1st October 2023 participated in “πππ§ππ’πππ£ ππ€π§ ππ¬ππππππ©π” that is Cleaning drive for the ghats of Ganga under the project ‘πππ’ππ’π πππ£ππ’ organised by Patna Municipal corporation in collaboration with ‘Being Helper Foundation’ which works for providing better education, environment and health.
The Ganga River is one of the most sacred rivers in the world and is home to a diverse range of aquatic life. However, the river has become increasingly polluted in recent years, due to a number of factors, plastic pollution being a major one.This pollution has had a devastating impact on the river’s ecosystem and on the people who rely on it for their livelihoods. The main aim of the Drive was to collect as many plastic bags as possible at the Janardhan Ghat, near JP Setu Pul from 10 AM to 11 AM.
The students of the department of Social Work volunteered for this great purpose and actively participated in removing plastic pollutants from the ghat.
The whole programme was a great success, the students of Social Work executed teamwork and leadership skills of Social Work. Students were guided and co-ordinated for this programme by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Assistant professor and Head ,Department of Social Work, Patna Women’s College.
