Guest lecture on ‘ Research Methodology and Research Ethics’

On 1st April 2023 , The Department of Social Work organized guest lecture on ‘ Research Methodology and Research Ethics’ .The Resource person was Prof R. N. Sharma , Former Head, Department of Sociology, Patna University. The session started by Welcome and honour of the guest by Felicitating the honourable guest by offering him a Sapling as a gesture and token of thanks and honour by Ms. Mridul Mishra,Head Department of Social Work and Sister Sanjana A. C, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work. The session started with the introduction of research and what are the basic principles, types and parameters of research design. Than after different types of sampling methods, tools of data collections, use of various softwares in the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data was discussed, what are the basic research ethics to be followed in the field, what are the criteria s to select the samples and how sample size is calculated.., what is variables, . The students were also informed about the role of social worker in various research projects and how to utilize skills and tallents well on the field for the progressive and better learning outcome. The whole session was very fruitful and full of knowledge. Many practical experiences were discussed which generally students face in the field when they go for data collection. The session ended by the students asking their queries and sharing their experiences. The whole event was organised under the guidance of Dr Sister M Rashmi A. C Principal, Patna Women’s College. At the end Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Mridul Mishra, Head, Department of Social Work, Faculty Members Sister Sanjana A. C, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, and Aishwarya Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work were also present.
