Lecture 2025-Global health challenges and ways to keep heart healthy

Health Centre, Department of Home Science organized a lecture on 24/02/2025 at 11:45 am in Carmel Hall. The topic of the lecture was “Global health challenges and ways to keep heart healthy”. The resource person was Dr. Rajay Narain, Hon. Consultant Cardiologist, St George’s University Hospital, London; Advisor, Govt. of Ireland and Ukraine; Chairman, Global Health Alliance, U.K. He discussed the prevalence of heart disease and diabetes globally and in India.Dr. Narayan outlined the global challenges like NCDs, pandemic, food and water insecurity, maternal and child health, inequalities and access to health care and mental health globally. He also talked about the preventive measures to reduce the increasing burden of global health challenges like strengthening healthcare system, addressing climate change, environmental health risk, combating infectious diseases and future pandemics, reducing the burden of NCDs, preventing antimicrobial resistance, ensuring equal healthcare access for all and strengthening health partnerships. The event concluded with an exciting question and answer session. The programme was attended by faculty and 1st year students of Home Science, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology and Microbiology. A total of 135 participants attended the session.The programme was organized by Dr. Shazia Husain, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science; In-charge Health Centre, Patna Women’s College. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Head, Department of Home Science, Patna Women’s College. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Nisha Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science, Patna Women’s College.
