Workshop on the theme “Lab to Life: Transforming Plants through Tissue Culture”
As a part of the MoU collaborative activity, PG & Research Department of Botany, Holy Cross College, Autonomous, Tiruchirappalli organized Workshop on the theme “Lab to Life: Transforming Plants through Tissue Culture”, in hybrid mode, on 30th January 2025 at 10.00 am. Sem VI, IV and II students of Department of Botany, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) attended the workshop. The resource person Dr P Shanthi delivered her lecture on the importance and techniques applied for tissue culture of medicinal and endangered plants. The presentation incorporated the research milestones of their Tissue culture lab. Second presentation by Dr S Catharin Sara was all about culturing Ferns and other plants of algae, lichens and bryophytes. Tissue culture of spores, frond and other vegetative parts can provide a better means to understand the embryogenesis and organogenesis of lower plant groups. She emphasized that phytochemical constituents could be analysed at any stage of their development. Both the sessions were highly informative and insightful giving direction to the budding scientist in the field of Botany.
