WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, 05.06.2024

On the occasion of WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, 05.06.2024, the ECO Task Force in collaboration with NSS, Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University and Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, Goverment of Bihar organised a Tree Plantation Program at Campus of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, Government of Bihar, Kumhrar, Patna.
This year, the theme of World Environment Day is – Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. The current temperature being more than 42 degrees Celcius, necessitates tree planation to provide relief from scorching heat. 30 plants which provide shade, purify air, and provide cool ambient air including saplings of Neem, Ashok, Peepal, Chatwan, Hoya Plant etc were planted. More than 35 students of ETF and NSS and 30 staff members of Excise Department helped in planting saplings. Plants are an important part of our existence as our life depends on them for providing food to shelter. They have various uses. Alarming temperature of earth has made us realise the importance of plants in our lives. It is in this regard ECO Task Force, Patna Women’s College, took the initiative to sensitize people about its benefits.
The teachers peresnt on the occasion were Dr. Sapna Kumari, Dr. Neetu and Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, Assistant Professors of Dept of Zoology, PWC, along with Mr Dennis and Ms Ankita Chaudhry, Support Staffs, Department of Zoology, PWC and Patna Product Assistant Commissioner- Prem Prakash, Assistant Commissioner – BS BCL Patna – Amrita Kumari, Superintendent Group Centre Patna – Ranjan Prasad, Commandant Group Centre Patna – Arun Kumar, and Inspector – Vijay Kumar of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, Government of Bihar were present on this occasion. They took the responsibility to take care of the plants.
The programme was a grand success.
