Abstract :The study was conducted to assess the effect of supplementing soil with coelomic fluid and vermicompost of earthworms (Eisenia fetida), on the rate of germination and growth of mung bean (Vigna radiata) and red spinach (Amaranthus dubius) seed. Further the role of three different concentrations of coelomic fluid, vermicompost only and coelomic fluid+ vermicompost @ (5%, 10% and 20%) respectively on the cholorophyll content and biochemical parameters was studied. A significant increase in the rate of germination was seen in different concentrations of coelomic fluid and vermicompost. There was significant increase at P<0.05 in plant height and number of leaves when treated with
10% of coelomic fluid+ vermicompost. Results also showed that there was significant increase in chlorophyll content, carbohydrate content and protein content in both Vigna radiata and Amaranthus dubius when treated with 10% concentration of coelomic fluid with combination of vermicompost. Antipesticide properties was observed in both coelomic fluid and vermiwash of earthworm. The study concluded that combination of coelomic fluid plus vermicompost could be used as organic fertilizers and natural pesticides.
