Brief Report:
The Department of Fashion Designing organized an online Guest Lecture on ‘Role of khadi in Fashion Industry’ on 14th January 2023 by Mr. Subhash Kumar, Design expert, Bihar state khadi and Village industries board, Patna.
Mr. Subhash explained the importance of Khadi and highlighted how our swadeshi khadi has become a very important textile material in Indian fashion which plays a strategic role for designers. Students put forth that this breathable fabric is not as popular as it should be because of its high price. Fast colour and new draping styles and cost-cutting aspects were also discussed.
At the last, Dr. Shemushi (HOD) of the Department proposed a vote of thanks and described wearing a khadi as a practical approach to sustainable fashion and it is much needed for both customers and designers working in the fashion and textile industry.
