NSS ACTIVITY UNDER SEHAT KENDRA
Event: Guest Lecture
Occasion: World Population Day
Date: 11th July 2025
Venue: Carmel Hall, Patna Women’s College
Time: 12:00 P.M

On the occasion of World Population Day, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Patna Women’s College organized a Guest Lecture under Sehat Kendra, aimed at educating the community about the issues related to population growth and promoting sustainable living practices. The theme of this event was “Empowering Young People to Create the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World”. This programme was moderated by NSS leader-Megha Kumari. The programme started by welcome address by Dr. Jyoti Chandra, NSS programme officer.
The session featured a highly enlightening guest lecture by Dr. Samiksha (MBBS, Cataract & Corneal Refractive Surgeon), who addressed the theme “Empowering Young People to Create the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World”. Dr. Samiksha began by highlighting the origins of World Population Day and the reasons why global attention to population trends is crucial. She elaborated on the growing significance of youth in shaping families and societies, emphasizing that we are currently living in a world with the largest-ever youth generation. The lecture explored the strong interlinkages between women’s education and population sustainability, especially in the context of maternal health, family planning, and social development. Dr. Samiksha stressed how educated women are more likely to make informed choices, leading to reduced fertility rates, lower child mortality, and enhanced economic productivity and GDP growth.
The session proved to be insightful and deeply informative for all the participants, especially NSS volunteers, who actively engaged in the post-lecture discussion and pledged to promote awareness about women’s education and population issues in their communities.
The Session was ended by vote of thanks which was delivered by Dr. Brahmanand, NSS programme officer.
