The Department of Political Science organized an Independence Day Programme on Wednesday 14th August, 2024 at Veronica Auditorium, celebrating the 78th Independence Day. The main theme of the event was “Bharat ke Swatantrata Sangram mein Janjatiyan ka Yogdaan” which was dedicated to our Unsung Tribal Heroes and their sacrifices in making the nation free from colonial shackles. The theme of Independence Day attempted to recall and remember forgotten heroes of our freedom struggle, many of whom might be renowned yet unknown to the new generation such as Birsa Munda, Tirot Singh, Rani Gaidinliu and many others. The programme began with a Group Song- Bharat Vandana, followed by felicitation of our “HOMEMAKERS- Our Nation Builders” by the Principal Dr Sister M. Rashmi A. C. Thereafter, Dr. Vinita Priyedarshi, Head of Department of Political Science addressed the gathering and gave out the message of Independence Day highlighting the role of tribals in the national freedom struggle. A patriotic song was sung followed by a self-composed poetry acknowledging the forgotten women of national freedom struggle like Tara Rani Shruvastava,Usha Mehta,Rani Gaidinliu etc.A thematic dance-drama was performed depicting the contribution of tribal leaders like Birsa Munda, Tilka Manjh, Tirot Singh and Rani Gaidinliu in the national freedom struggle. After this, the gathering was addressed by Principal Sister, Dr. M. Rashmi A.C.
The entire event was moderated by Ayushi Arya, Shubha Pandey and Shaily Singh from the Department of Political Science. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Fiza Darakshan, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. The Programme ended with National Anthem.
