Brief Report:
The Department of Fashion Designing, Patna Women’s College organised a virtual workshop on the ‘Circular Design Challenge’ on Thursday, 3rd February 2022. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Archana Ranjan, Pattern master & Asst. Professor, School of Creativity, Rishihood University, Sonipat, Haryana.
This programme was focused on pattern making and designing with sustainable fashion. In the first session, students were taught some important designing tips, pattern cutting, and the production process, which creates the key issues surrounding sustainability.
In the second session, participants were given a quiz on eco-friendly design ideas to minimize waste products in the fashion industry. Many experiments and approaches were given and discussed to reduce the negative impacts associated with a garment’s life cycle.
While concluding the programme, Dr. Shemushi, Head, Department of Fashion Designing, Patna Women’s College, focused on sustainability and its relevance, especially in today’s age of fast fashion and its ill effects on the environment.
