FROM CHIEF EDITOR’S DESK
Patna Women’s College, a premier institution for young women in Bihar was 3rd Cycle NAAC Accredited by National Assessment of Accreditation Council (NAAC), with ‘A’ grade in 2016 with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.58/4 which to this date is the highest score in Bihar. The first accreditation took place in 2004. In the same year, the institution was also accorded the ‘College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)’ status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the CPE Scheme based on the proposal submitted. A Grant is sanctioned for improving infrastructure and to encourage and promote undergraduate research. In pursuance of this goal, Patna Women’s College has, since 2005, initiated the process of encouraging research aptitude among undergraduate students in all departments.
Under the CPE scheme, three groups of students from all the departments (not exceeding 3 in a group) are identified and selected for undertaking research projects in a specified area or topic. The selected groups work under the supervision of a teacher in their respective departments. The students collect data/material, organize these and, after analysis, present their findings in the form of a written report. Subsequently, they modify the content of their research and findings in the form of a research paper and make a Power-Point Presentation. A Panel of Referees (eminent scholars) evaluate the quality of research and presentation. The best paper and presentation from each department is selected for an award and the best two papers from each department are selected for publication in this Journal.
The research programme initiated under ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ (CPE) Scheme has succeeded in making the learning process a more purposive and meaningful exercise. This year the focus of research projects undertaken by our students was, on various aspects of COVID-19 pandemic as it’s effect trickled down to every aspect of humanity be it economic, social, health etc. The College encouraged these research activities with enthusiasm since it provides an opportunity to the young learner to participate in the process of search, reflection and action.
Explore — Journal of Research, under the CPE scheme embodies the research work of our students (undergraduate and postgraduate) and other researchers. We are proud to bring out these Research papers under the aegis of College with Potential for Excellence, in the peer reviewed Journal ‘Explore‘ published by Patna Women’s College, Patna University, Patna.
Explore – now invites quality research papers from researchers from all Colleges, Universities and Research Institutes.
