On 12th August 2023, the Department of English, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) showed a documentary related to Ragging and its prevention on campuses as part of the observance of Ant-Ragging Week. The fifteen minutes long documentary was based on norms and rules regarding ragging as specified by the UGC.
The documentary was shown to the students of the Department of English in their classrooms. The movie showed the repercussions of ragging and ended by motivating the students to bring about positive change. The message was also to refrain from and discourage any form of bullying based on caste, class, gender, body type, and sexuality. It was followed by an interactive session with students.
On 17th August 2023, the department also organised a Poster-Making Competition on the theme of Anti-Ragging. Students from BA Hons English Semester 1 presented their posters to showcase the social stigma, psychological impact, and the horrific effect of ragging on the minds of young students. Through their creative posters, they presented the drastic steps that the victims of ragging take due to their traumatic experiences.
Dr. Prabhat Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of English judged the posters.
Winners of the competition were:
