Brief Report:

The Department of Education, Patna Women’s College organized Bhasha Saptah from 06-12-2021 to 10-12-2021. The Objectives of the programme were:

  • To enrich students’ knowledge and understanding of different local languages and dialects.
  • To sensitize the students about the deteriorating status of indigenous languages.
  • To enable the students to take innovative initiatives to conserve and preserve indigenous languages.

There were seven groups formed, namely:

Nepali Group, Bhojpuri Group, Maithili Group, Tamil Group, Santhali Group, Magahi Group, and Urdu Group. The first performance started with Lokgeet in the Nepali language, in which students express the way Nepalese celebrate Diwali; following this, an act based on “women’s empowerment” in the Bhojpuri language was performed. This created an impact on the perspective of every individual, and then a Lokgeet and a small skit in the Maithili language were performed. And the then program continued with a “Pongal celebration skit” performed in the Tamil language, and then again, a Lok geet was performed in the Santhali language, and an act based on the “Dowry system” was shown in the Magahi language. At last, ‘Bait Bazi’ was performed in the Urdu language, in which Shayari was presented by members of the Urdu.
