Field Work/Outreach Activities
On 9th February 2024 the students of Department of Social Work as a part of their field work curriculum collaborated with ‘Being-Helper Foundation’ Patna, which works in various sectors with a core focus on Health, Education, Environment and disaster relief. The students were placed in a slum behind Haj Bhavan, Patna under the supervision of Mr. Shubham, team head, Being Helper Foundation. A menstrual hygiene awareness session named ‘Stop the spot’ was organised for the women of the area with spokesperson Mrs. Jayanti Jha (Counsellor). The students became a part of this interactive session. The women of the slum area were motivated to use good quality sanitary napkins and to practise hygiene steps like having warm water baths, having nutrition supplements of iron and calcium, washing and using dry clothes, etc. After the session sanitary napkins were distributed among the women attending the session. The students learnt many things about conducting a session and about community organisation. The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head, and Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Patna Women’s College.
