On 10th February 2024, The Department of Social Work, Patna Women’s College under the ‘P.A.C.E.’ (Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement) Programme organised an interactive session on English Proficiency for the children of slum area, Adalat Ganj. In the first half of the session both the students and the slum children had an interactive session with each other consisting of introductory games and a moral story video which was shown to the children explaining the values like ‘Own up to our mistakes and avoid blaming others’. In the second half of the session basic English class was conducted where simple words, their spellings and pronunciations were taught to the children with the help of games and videos. In the end of the session, the children were encouraged by the students to learn and practise basic English on a regular basis. The whole session was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Sr. Sanjana A. C Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work and Ms. Akanksha Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work. The slum children were motivated to attend future classes as well. The session was quite interesting and fruitful for the children of slums and thus enhanced their knowledge and skills.
