Department of HISTORY, PATNA WOMEN’S COLLEGE , Autonomous has organized an online lecture on the topic “ARCHAELOGY AND HERITAGE” on 17th April 2023 on zoom platform. The resource person of the session was Amit Ranjan , Assistant Researcher ,Bihar heritage development society , Patna. And Lisha K K , Head and Assistant professor , Department of History , Christ College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda , Kerala. The beneficiaries of the sessions were students of Semester II and IV from the Departments of History, The session started with a prayer song and it continued with the lecture by the resource person. Prof. Amit Ranjan mainly emphasized on the topics like Culture, art (BIHAR HERITAGE) , importance of
archaeology and heritage.Cultural heritage values include the significance of Aboriginal people, place of historic, architectural or scientific significance. He put an emphasis on cultural Heritage by quoting a sentence of constitution as “It shall be the duty of every citizens of India to value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture.” He also talked
about Archaeology and heritage in Bihar which is divided into four category as Ancient , Medival , Colonial and Independence Heritage .Nalanda and Mahabodhi are two world heritage site in Bihar with 70 centrally protected monuments and 54 state protected sites in Bihar.
We came to know about different facts like GPR technique. We got to know about cultural sequence in India which can be understand bt the picture given below. After that the session was proceeded by Prof. Lisha K K , the lecture put an emphasis on
kerala. First on the different type of archeological discovery that have happened in kerala, from in ground discovery to cave panting. and ranged from ancient Mesolithic(not sure about Mesolithic or peliolithic) to ancient port cities. she also talked about architecture of the different cities from the kings and rajan times to European and Indian mixed houses and places build in early 19th to 20th century, there building mostly exist in the Manglore. She also talked about the regional gods and reginal believes. she talked about how different different tribes have there different gods and these gods were all one way of other related to natural things. she at last talked about kerala’s incredible flora and fauna. she shed some light on kerala’s diverse eco system. She talked about some important archaeological heritage cities like PATTANAM which is an ancient port city of Kerala . (Source :- KCHR website) , Western ghats which is well known mountain range in Kerala , running through Kerala , Tamil Nadu , Karnataka ,Maharashtra ,Goa and Gujrat ; and different type of rituals as theyyam . The lecture was followed by question/Answer Session. Moderator of the session was Bhanu Priya and Shreya Sharma , Student of Department of History. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mariyum Fatima , Student of Dept of history. The Session was conducted by Department of History, Patna Women’s College. The Whole programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Sister M.Rashmi A.C. , Principal, Patna Women’s College
