Brief Report:
The Department of Economics organised an online guest lecture on “Digital Rupee” which was delivered by the Deputy General Manager, RBI, Ms. Binita Topno on 2nd March 2022. This online guest lecture on digital rupee was organised to familiarise the students with the concept of digital currency by the Reserve Bank of India as proposed in the union budget 2022-23.
Ms. Binita Topno explained that the Central Bank backed digital currency is a legal tender; it is the digital form of the Indian rupee. Further she elaborated about the uses and advantages of digital currency. Digital rupee will provide users with convenience and security of digital, as well as regulated reserve backed circulation of the traditional banking system.
After the lecture Ms. Topno also answered students’ queries. Anjali Raj from Semester 6 proposed the vote of thanks.
