Interactive session under Indo – UK water quality programme-2020

Brief Report-
The Department of Zoology in collaboration with Manchester University UK organized an interactive session. The Resource Person for the event was Mr. Samuel Addison from the Manchester University, a researcher and Dr. Arun Kumar, Senior scientist Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, Patna, Bihar. The main objective of this session was to support research that will provide information and solutions to tackle with water quality issues and secure the provision of clean water, rejuvenate rivers, and restore Water bodies. Mr. Samuel discussed about the Citizen Science Project with the students. He highlighted the presence of Arsenic and Fluoride in the Groundwater and about its harmful effects. Dr. Arun also aware the students about some facts such as drinking water with even 5ppm concentration of Arsenic can cause mental retardation and other consecutive disease in people especially in children. Dr. Arun Kumar also brought with knowledge that how we can make water potable by harvesting rainwater or by using well water. 24 students of semester II and IV participated in this Interactive session. The lecture was very wholesome and informative and was expressed by the speaker in a very alluring manner. Students’ engagement towards the lecture was also very commendable.
