Brief Report:
On August 6, 2021, the Department of English, Patna Women’s College organised the first session of “Reflections Lecture Series” which started as a monthly feature of departmental activity to interact with academicians and intellectuals from different spheres. The topic of the lecture was “Indian History Criticism: History, Texts and Ideas”. The guest speaker of the lecture was Professor Dhananjay Singh, Chairperson of the Centre for English Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
The guest speaker spoke on Rasa, the theory of aesthetic consciousness and how it asserts that drama or performance is expected to evoke rasa or joy. The theory remains a fundamental cornerstone within the text of Natyashastra.
