A two-day Workshop on Teaching Aids was conducted in the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous for students of the third semester (session 2022-24) on 11th and 12th July, 2023. The workshop included a segment on making, “BEST OUT OF WASTE” under the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, in accordance with NCTE’s AKAM celebrations. and an exhibition on “Low-cost TLMs” in accordance with National Council for Teacher Education Janbhagidari Activities/Events for TEIS to commemorate India’s G2O Presidency.
On July 11th 2023, Dr. Nitu Chauhan and Ms. Ritika Shree, Assistant Professors, Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous showed a PowerPoint Presentation elucidating the importance of teaching aids in the teaching-learning process. They asserted the effectiveness and purposeful use of instructional material for maximization of learning. The students listened attentively, noting down important details in lieu of their impending four-month long internship where this knowledge of construction and application of various Teaching Aids would be a much desirable skill.
Post-lunch, a practical session was held for students in the Multipurpose Hall. They were taught the art of preparing charts. Students were seen engrossed in making creative and colourful charts pertaining to their respective Methods.
On the second day of the Workshop, Ms. Yamini, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Patna Women’s College demonstrated the art of making low-cost teaching aids based on the concept of ‘Best out of Waste’. She reiterated the importance of teaching-learning material for easy understanding, assimilation and retention of knowledge. Ms. Yamini showcased self-made videos where old and discarded materials were ingeniously used for creating innovative and interesting low-cost teaching aids. The students watched with rapt attention and wonder at the transformations. The workshop gave the trainees a unique opportunity to hone their creative talent. The workshop came to an end with an exhibition on the theme: Low-cost Teaching Aids.
