In a bid to celebrate Van Mahotsav 2023 and promote environmental awareness, the ECO Task Force and SRISHTI Club of Patna Women’s College joined hands to organize a captivating Photography Competition on July 25, 2023, at Fr. B.J. Sullivan hall. The program commenced with an auspicious plantation ceremony, graced by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Shri Surendra Singh, IFS Director of Ecology and Environment, Department of Environment and Forests, Government of Bihar. Following the plantation, the Photography Exhibition was inaugurated at the B.J. Sullivan hall, where an impressive collection of photographs capturing the beauty of biodiversity and the urgency to combat plastic pollution were on display.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 77 students, each showcasing their photographic skills on themes related to “Essentials of Biodiversity” and “Beat Plastic Pollution 2023.”
The ETF anthem resonated through the hall, sung passionately by ETF members, setting the stage for an eventful day ahead.
Dr. Sister Stuti, A.C. member Secretary of ETF, provided a brief account of the ETF and Srishti, the two prominent environment clubs of Patna Women’s College. She highlighted their numerous activities undertaken throughout the year to safeguard Mother Earth and promote sustainable practices.
The chief guest, Shri Surendra Singh, was honored with an Angavastra and a potted plant as a token of appreciation for his presence and support towards environmental causes by Dr Shobha Srivastav Vice president of ECO task Force. In his address, Shri Surendra Singh lauded Patna Women’s College for its relentless efforts in preserving the environment through the initiatives of ETF and Srishti. He also shed light on various environment schemes implemented by the Government of Bihar to encourage environmental conservation.
The program reached its pinnacle with the rendition of the Srishti anthem, filling the hall with a sense of dedication towards protecting the environment. A heartfelt vote of thanks marked the conclusion of the event.
The Photography Competition not only showcased the creative talents of the students but also served as a platform to advocate for essential environmental issues.
