Brief Report:

A Webinar on ‘Cyber Security Awareness: Challenges and its Emerging Trendswas organized by the Department of Computer Applications (MCA), on 18th October 2022 at 11:00 a.m. to raise awareness and highlight the importance of cyber safety and digital security. The month of October is marked as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM).

The undergraduate and Postgraduate students of various departments attended the online session, which was projected on the big screen, so that the entire class can attend and avail Awareness of Cybersecurity.

Sri Sushil Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime Cell, Economic Offences Unit, Bihar, Patna, was the invited speaker for the session. The webinar started with the prayer for invoking God’s blessings. After the auspicious note, Dr. Bhawna Sinha introduced the theme of the webinar and its requirements in the present times.

Shri Sushil Kumar started his lecture by presenting current Cyber Security statistics and facts. In his session, he discussed the different types of Cyber Crime. He explained several topics that come under the umbrella of Cyber Security issues. He talked about social media related crimes like Fake Profile, Cyber Stalking, Cyber Pornography, Email Spoofing, Phishing/Vishing etc. He also shared his views about Job fraud, Loan Fraud, Cracking, the Dark Web, Deep web etc. Apart from this, he also shared several Cyber Security tips. He especially suggested to always keep strong passwords for both wireless and broadband routers, hide personal information, beware of revenge pornography, beware of Wi-Fi hacking etc. He also shared safety tips for kids. He introduced the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal from where we can file our complaints.

At last, there was a question-answer session in which the students actively participated. They asked questions from different areas of cyber-crimes and Shri Sushil Kumar Sir answered all their queries satisfactorily.
