The Department of Biotechnology at Patna Women’s College organized a “Workshop on commercial production of Mushrooms” at their newly established Mushroom Cultivation Unit near the gymnasium on May 6th, 2023. The event began with the inauguration of the production unit by the Respected Principal, Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., congratulated the HOD of the Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Arti Kumari, faculty members, and students for their efforts. She highlighted the importance of promoting entrepreneurship and increasing commercial-scale mushroom cultivation, encouraging students to venture into this area and become self-employed.

The students participated in a Workshop after the inauguration. which was facilitated by Mr. Newton Kumar, a Horticulture specialist, who gave a guest lecture on the topic. The students enthusiastically participated in a hands-on activity that involved packaging compost with mushroom spawns, and Mr. Kumar provided valuable insights on critical points to be considered during production. The Mushroom Cultivation Unit is aimed at commercial production of button mushrooms, which has a significant market potential. This event was a positive step towards developing the biotechnology sector and equipping students with practical skills for careers in mushroom cultivation and related fields.
