On 21st March the Department of Social Work organized the celebration of “World Social Work Day” with it’s theme “Respecting Diversity through Joint Social Action” The students of department of Social work sem II and sem IV participated and performed many activities. The programme commenced with the welcome dance, followed by poster presentation addressing the theme and social issues and need of joint social action. The students displayed the documentary on ‘upliftment of ST’ s and SC’s’ in which the students shared their field work and projects experiences and highlighted the contribution of various organisation like Manthan, Care India, Jeevika, Pradan, etc and displayed the data of baseline survey and compared the data of census, NFHS etc. Interview taken by Father Juno, Director, Manthan and health workers of the community like ASHA, ANM was displayed and also the condition of Anganwaadi in the community was the matter of concern. Interventional programs and measures for the upliftment of ST’s and SC’s were discussed . The students performed a slogan dance on ‘Essence of being a woman’ and added charm to the event , group song was performed bringing energy and positivity on song ‘ ‘Ashaein ‘ followed by The Skit performance on the theme love to humanity and compassion was performed beautifully,
The take home message of this event was to ‘provide an opportunity to acknowledge how communities can make powerful actions that lead to inclusive social transformation’. Chief Guests Sir Michael and Angelica Ma’am along with the faculty members of B.Ed and Community College graced the occassion with their presence. The whole program was undertaken under the guidance of Dr Sister M. Rashmi A. C, Principal, Patna Women’s College, Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Mridul Mishra, Head, Department of Social Work, the faculty members of Department of Social Work, Sister Sanjana A. C Assistant Professor department of Social Work and Aishwarya Roy, Assistant Professor department of Social Work were also present for this event.
