Brief Report:
The Department of Mass communication organised a Guest Lecture on the topic Community Radio: An Overview, Opportunities and Challenges on 07th May 2022. The Guest Speaker is Ms. Saumya Jha who is an Independent Community Media Consultant with work experience of more than 15 years. She started the session in a very interesting way by asking the students to do some activities in which students participated with so much excitement.
She shared some videos of different community radio stations showing the journey, sustainability, and the struggle it faces. She shared a PowerPoint presentation on ‘how community radio helped people during the Covid-19 pandemic in spreading awareness of Mask and Sanitizer’. In between she asked students to perform some more activities to keep it interesting and share their points. There are around 360 community radios in India and 10 are in Bihar only. It was an interactive and fruitful session.
