Brief Report –
Patna Women’s College commemorated the 74th Independence Day virtually on Friday, August 14, 2020. The responsibility of organizing the event was entrusted to the Department of Political Science. The proceedings were live streamed on Zoom and official YouTube channel of Patna Women’s College. The college management, faculty, and students joined together to pay tribute to the freedom fighters. The ceremony commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a Patriotic Group Song. Dr. Vinita Priyadarshi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, delivered an introductory speech, honoring the martyrs and discussing India’s struggle spanning over 200 years. The program featured various performances, including a solo dance on the song “Hume Bharat Kehte Hain,” a recitation of a patriotic poem, and a group dance expressing gratitude towards the police, doctors, scientists, and all those who have been tirelessly working during challenging times. The final act was a skit titled ‘The Power of Unity,’ which shed light on societal issues and emphasized the importance of standing up against them. Students from different departments participated in these performances, guided by Cultural Coordinator Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas and Ms. Samiksha Sinha. Sister M. Tanisha A.C, Vice Principal of Patna Women’s College, addressed the event and commended the organizing team. The live stream on YouTube attracted more than 1500 viewers, while the Zoom meeting had approximately 300 participants. Mr. Bhanu Pratap, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved in the event’s success.
