On August 24, 2024, the Department of Computer Applications (MCA) at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) hosted an engaging Online Guest Lecture on ” Machine Learning and Deep Learning Techniques for Plant Disease Classification” in the Virtual Lab under the PWC Alumni Connect initiative for all the students of MCA Semester-I and III and PGDCA Semester- I students respectively to inculcate an inter-disciplinary approach towards their careers. The session was graced by the presence of Ms. Neha Roy Research Scholar, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University. She is a gold medalist in MCA from Patna women’s college. Highlights of the session:
- Ms. Neha explained key points and unique characteristics of Machine Learning and Deep learning;
- She explained the differences of Machine Learning and Deep Learning;
- She also introduced to different plant diseases and factors influencing the plant disease classification;
- She explained the steps for Model Training in Plant disease classification;
- She also explained image normalization and image resizing techniques;
- She explained the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN);
- She also demonstrated her project on Potato disease classification through a video;
- She shared the project code and live demonstrated the working of it through google drive and google collab.
There was a very positive response from the students and they learmt some new things in this session. At last, the event was winded-up by “Vote of Thanks”, by Ms. Sonam Kumari the class representative of MCA semester-I. All the faculty members attended the session.
