Brief Report –

Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, organized an Online Lecture series as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava scheme on May 15, 2023, and May 17, 2023, utilizing the Zoom platform. The first session, held on May 15, 2023, focused on the topic “Indian Freedom Struggle.” The esteemed resource person for this session was Dr. Piyush Kamal Sinha, a Professor and Former Head of the Department of History at Magadh University, Bodh Gaya. The beneficiaries of these sessions were students from Semester IV in the Departments of History, Political Science, and Sociology. Additionally, the session was live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of Patna Women’s College. During the lecture, Prof. Piyush shed light on lesser-known aspects of the Indian freedom struggle. He discussed various movements such as “The Khedwad Movement of Santhal Tribes,” “The Tana Bhagat Movement of Oroan Tribes,” “Birsa Movement,” and “Sardar Ladai.” Furthermore, he highlighted the ideas of freedom advocated by Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose. Following the lecture, a question and answer session took place, with moderation provided by Mariyum Fatima, a student from the Department of History. The vote of thanks was proposed by Gungun Sitaria, a student from the Department of History. Dr. Priyanka, Assistant Professor,  Department of History at Patna Women’s College, conducted the session. The entire program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., the Principal of Patna Women’s College.
