On 17th February 2024, the Department of Social Work, Patna Women’s College under the ‘P.A.C.E’ (Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement) Programme organised a session on English Proficiency for the children of adopted slums (Adalat Ganj and Patna Mahila Ayog) . In the first half of the session the children were divided into two categories, in first category there were children from class 3rd to 5th and in the second from class 6th to 9th. The students of class 3rd to 5th had a class on basic English where they were taught to write short essay on ‘Myself” and “Parts of the body”. The students of class 6th to 9th were taught simple words, the pronunciation, the meaning and the spellings. In the second half the students were encouraged to explore and absorb new knowledge through a video which emphasized on good habits to help them learn, for their overall well-being and development. At the end of the session the children were encouraged by the students to practise what was taught in the class.
The whole session was organized and arranged under the guidance of Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work and Sr. Sanjana A.C. Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work. The slum children were motivated to attend classes regularly in the upcoming days.
