Patna women’s college visited House of Variety, Theatre company
On 4th January 2024, students of Department of Mass Communication, Patna women’s college visited House of Variety, Theatre company, Patna for a master class with renowned actor, Saurav Shukla. The theme of the master class was Acting : Cinema and Theatre. In the beginning of the master class, Saurav Shukla shared his journey till date and appreciated the support of his parents in his journey. He explained the importance of reading and writing being an artist where he suggested students to read book ‘Kashi Ka Assi’ by Kashinath Singh. He discussed the relationship, differences and similarities between theatre and cinema. He briefly explained the importance of expressions in acting. He discussed the different genres and categories of theatres. He compared traditional and contemporary acting techniques in theatre and cinema. He concluded the master class with the explanation on the term commercialisation in theatres and motivated the upcoming artists to upgrade the standards of Indian Theatre by increasing their horizons of thinking. The master class was moderated by Punj Prakash.
