Surya Namaskar Day 2024

The Department of Philosophy, Patna Women’s College, celebrated Surya Namaskar Day on 12th February, 2024 in order to create awareness regarding the benefits of Surya Namaskar and to motivate the students to practice Surya Namaskar every day and to make it a  part of their daily routine.

The importance of Surya Namaskar continues from the Vedic period, it is said to be the ultimate Asanas, which not only helps in balancing the body and the mind but also tones the nervous system, skin, muscle, digestive system, circulatory system, weight loss and increases memory. Surya Namaskar should be practised together with breath, mantras and concentration. The Surya Namaskar consists of total 12 poses i.e., Pranamasana, Hasta Uttanasana, Hasta Padasana, Ashwa Sanchalanasana, Parvatasana, Ashtanga Namaskara, Bhujangasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana, Ashwa Sanchalanasana, Hastapadasana, Hastauttanasana, Tadasana.

On this occasion around 50 students of the Department of Philosophy and Applied Yoga enthusiastically practised and came to know of the benefits of Yoga.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Principal, Patna Women’s College, and Dr. Ameeta Jaisawal, Head, Department of Philosophy.

Dr. Kumkum Rani,  Dr. Keerti Choudhary, Dr. Kamlendra Kumar were also present.  Meetu Kumari, Yoga Teacher conducted the session and explained the benefits of Surya Namaskar.
