Two-day Workshop on Genetic transformation in Pseudomonas sp 2024

The department of Microbiology, Patna Women’s College organized a two-day Workshop on 19th and 20th March, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on “Genetic transformation in Pseudomonas sp. ” for the students of B.Sc. Honours Microbiology, Semester IV and VI.
The workshop covered the process of Genetic transformation in Bacterial cells, focusing on the procedures involved in the creation of a competent cell, transformation of competent bacterial cells with plasmid DNA and calculation of the transformation efficiency. It highlighted the pivotal role of the process of transfer of Genetic Material for various applications like cloning.
The workshop was supervised by Dr. Jaya Philip, Head, Department of Microbiology and the Assistant professors, Dr. Niti Yashvardhini, and Dr. Swetnisha, proved to be highly informative. The Workshop provided a first hand experience of the process of transformation to the students enhancing their interest in the various applications of Genetic Engineering.
