TWO DAYS SEMINAR INDO GANGETIC PLAIN

The department of Social Work participated in the two days seminar on 3rd and 4 th December 2023 respectively,on the topic “Air Pollution in the Indo- Gangetic Plain and Possible Solutions” and Importance of Gender – Friendly Public Transport to Combat Climate Change” organized by The Climate Agenda at Indian Social Forum, Bihar Vidyapeeth, Kurji, Patna-Bihar. The event organizer acquainted the participants about Indian Social Forum and the work the forum is involved in, then the speakers for the day were introduced. Mr. Sunil Dahiya, Analyst, Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air who shared the powerpoint presentation on air pollution in the cities like Patna, Gaya and Muzaffarpur, and the impact of air pollution on the environment. The second resource person was Dr. Zeba Alam a Gynecologist and Assistant Professor, Nalanda Medical College. Who brought out the impact of air pollution, concerning health and fitness of the people. She spoke about the diseases caused by Air pollution. The third resource person was Ms. Ekta Shekhar, Director, The Climate Change. She presented a power point presentation on the quality of air in the state of Uttar Pradesh specially in the city of Varanasi. She shared that the quality of air in the city is equally bad as the city of Delhi, only because there is no data there is lack of awareness. For the next day the resource persons Mr. Vinay Founder Member of Bengaluru Bus Commuters Forum, and Ms. Sunita Sinha , Program Manager Nidan Bihar. It was a panal discussion and the coordinator for the session was Ms.Ekta Shekhar Director The Climate Agenda. The questions were asked on the topic “ A Gender Smart Sustainable Transportation” and the speakers answered according to their concerned areas. At the end of the seminar the participants were provided with the certificate and had a group photo.The sessions were informative and interesting. They generated awareness in the students about these issues. They students were happy to attend the seminar. The session was coordinated by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head Department of Social Work Patna Women’s College.
