BENGAL GAZETTE DAY
Speech Competition on the topic ‘ Changing face of Print Media Post Privatisation’
The Department of Mass Communication organized a speech competition on the topic “Changing face of Print Media post Privatisation” on 29th January 2024 on the occasion of Bengal Gazette Day. The students of UG and PGDJMC participated in this competition.
Discussing the theme of the competition, Head of the Department Ms. Roma said that Bengal Gazette Day is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of the first newspaper in India in 1780 by James Augustus Hickey. Bengal Gazette has played an important role in the history of Indian journalism. He also told the students about the changes in media due to privatization.
Mr Prashant Ravi, Ms Ankita and Ms Divya Gautam were the judges of the competition. In the competition, Antra of UG Sem 2 stood first, Palak Yashwani of PGDJMC stood second and Afsha Fatma of UG Sem 4 stood third.
